Joanne's Testimony (True Love Waits)

I found my co-disciple's love story so inspiring and godly 🙌🏻 5 years ago, Joanne was an archi student in UST. May sobra siyang crush na guy. Hindi niya pinapahalata dahil lahat yata ng girls sa block nila, crush si guy. And so, Joanne never told anyone that she likes the guy. Itinago niya. She didn't make any move. Until their 2nd year in college, lumapit sa kanya si guy. And told her, "I like you." and asked her kung puwede ba daw manligaw. Eh di nagulat si ate girl niyo Joanne. But you know what she did kahit gustong-gusto niya si guy? She didn't grab the opportunity agad. She's not ready to be in a relationship while in college. She wanted to honor God by focusing on her studies. Pero heto ang pinakanakaka-amaze. Ang sabi ni Joanne sa guy, "Gusto ko ng Christian. Kristiyano sa gawa, hindi lang sa salita." They go in the same church. We all go to CCF. Pero si guy parang hindi pa serious yung walk niya with the Lord. And so after Joanne said that, napansin niyang biglang nagka-growth ang pagiging kristiyano ni guy. They graduated last June 2017. They both finished architecture. They got a job. This time, magkahiwalay na sila ng trabaho. Mula nang nagtapat si guy sa kanya noong second year college sila hanggang sa maka-graduate sila, nanliligaw sa kanya si guy. At habang exclusively dating sila, nakikita ni Joanne na sobrang seryoso na ni guy sa relasyon niya sa Panginoon. You cannot fake a genuine heart that has Christ in it. And there were a lot of times that the guy proved that he is really for Christ now. Nakatingin o hindi si Joanne. Iyon ang mas nagpa-fall pa lalo kay Joanne sa guy. Handa na si ate girl niyo na sagutin si guy. Pero hindi nagtatanong si guy!!! 3 months na mula nang maka-grad sila pero hindi man lang nagtatanong si guy kung "official" na ba sila. Minsan daw, si Joanne na lang yung gustong magtanong. Hahaha! Nag-pray si Joanne kay Lord, she asked for signs (Okay, let me get this clear. Puwedeng manghingi ng signs kay Lord pero hindi siya reference ng mga answers ni Lord most of the time. Pero sa kaso ni Joanne, eto yung way ni Lord para ipakita sa kanya that si guy is the one. hehe) Joanne asked for 2 signs. 1. Kapag dumating yung araw na sasagutin niya talaga si guy dapat may dala na something si guy for her. Kahit ano lang. Kahit isang pirasong candy lang. Hahaha! 2. Kapag tinanong niya si guy, "Ano ba talagang motibo mo kung bakit gusto mong maging tayo?" Haha! Arte ni ate girl, ano? But for Godly dating, this is a good question to ask the guy. Tapos dapat daw ang answer ni guy, "I want to serve the Lord with you for the rest of my life." So yun nga, last August 28, 2017, inaya siya ni guy for a date. Nang nasa kotse na sila, sobrang tahimik. Gusto nang tumalak ni ate girl niyo. Kasi walang dala na something si guy tapos hindi na naman siya tinatanong kung sila na ba. Gusto nang magsalita ni Joanne. But the holy spirit asked her to stay quiet. To chill. Joanne obediently stayed quiet and just trusted the Lord. Then the most wonderful thing happened. Nasa Trinoma parking lot na sila. Guy: Kain na tayo? Joanne: *tumango while smiling. Hindi nga kasi siya pinagsasalita ni Lord. Haha* (They got off from the car. And then the guy went to the trunk. Pagkabalik may flowers nang dala!!! Sign number 1, check!!!) Guy: Joanne, (grabs her hands), I want to serve the Lord with you for the rest of my life. Will you be my girlfriend? Naiyak si ate girl niyo! Pati si guy. 😭😭😭 Yung sign no. 2, she does not need to ask anymore. Sinabi na agad ni guy. ❤ Last August 28, 2017, they became official. And promised each other that their relationship will be for the glory of God. Nga pala, nang unang umamin si guy kay Joanne nung second year sila, it was August 28, 2014. ❤ The guy waited for 3 years. Si Joanne, naghintay ng 3 months. You see, kapag will ni Lord, kahit wala kang gawin, wala kang sabihin, pero naghintay ka at tama ang desire ng heart mo, ibibigay Niya iyon sa'yo sa paraang mapapa- "Ang galing ni Lord. Sobra. Ang galing talaga!" There is a reward for waiting and being obedient to the Lord. There is joy when we lift up everything to Him. Joanne and the guy's love is a great example of how love can really wait and that everything will just fall into place. Honoring God, waiting in His right time, obedience, and conviction in faith can make all stories so magnificent and perfect. Great plot. Faithful characters. No loopholes.
